I spent 6 months exploring Vietnam's most remote corners — the villages, passes, and coastlines nobody puts on a poster. Let me build your trip from that firsthand knowledge.

About Your Guide

Hi, I'm Tomer.
I know Vietnam.

I didn't visit Vietnam. I lived it. Six months, 22 provinces, 4,000 kilometres on a motorbike, countless bowls of pho eaten at plastic stools in morning markets before the tourists woke up.

I found Hmong villages that aren't in any guidebook. I got lost in cave systems in Phong Nha. I slept in homestays where nobody spoke my language and the whole family laughed with me over dinner anyway. That Vietnam is still there — you just need someone to show you where to look.

  • Off-the-beaten-path knowledge most guides don't have
  • First-hand experience on a backpacker's budget
  • Deep understanding of local culture and customs
  • Practical: transport, food, safety, costs — all covered
  • Personal, not templated — every plan is built fresh

Where I'll Take You

Destinations Worth the Journey

These aren't tourist traps. They're the places I found that made me understand why people fall in love with Vietnam.

Hà Giang
Far North

Hà Giang

Challenging

Vietnam's wildest mountain frontier

A loop through limestone karst peaks, Hmong villages, and border highlands that feels like the edge of the world. The most dramatic scenery I found anywhere in Vietnam.

Best: September–November

Plan this trip
Hạ Long Bay
Northeast Coast

Hạ Long Bay

Easy

2,000 limestone islands rising from jade water

Yes, it's famous — but going on the right overnight boat, away from the tour-boat clusters, you find caves, floating villages, and water the color of pale jade.

NatureScenic

Best: October–April

Plan this trip
Mù Cang Chải
Northwest

Mù Cang Chải

Moderate

The rice terraces that defy gravity

Less visited than Sapa but far more dramatic — terraces cut into mountainsides at impossible angles, turning gold in September harvest season.

Best: Late September–October

Plan this trip
Phong Nha
Central Vietnam

Phong Nha

Moderate

The world's most spectacular cave system

Son Doong is the world's largest cave — but the smaller caves here are more accessible and still mind-bending. The Tu Lan caving and swimming experience is unlike anything on earth.

AdventureNature

Best: February–August

Plan this trip
Hội An
Central Coast

Hội An

Easy

Ancient town, tailors, and lantern-lit evenings

Every traveler visits Hoi An, but few stay long enough to find the rice paddy bike rides, the off-season quiet, the cooking classes in a grandmother's kitchen.

CultureFoodHistory

Best: February–May

Plan this trip
Mekong Delta
Deep South

Mekong Delta

Easy

A river civilization unlike any other

Thousands of waterways, floating markets, fruit orchards, and a pace of life so different from the tourist trail that first-timers feel like they've landed in another country.

What Travelers Say

Real Trips. Real Experiences.

I only help people plan trips I'd be proud to go on myself. Here's what some of them said afterward.

“That meal is still something I think about monthly.”

3-week backpacker itinerary

I came to Vietnam with zero plan and a lot of anxiety. Tomer's itinerary took me to places I never would have found on my own — especially the Mù Cang Chải rice terraces during harvest. That alone was worth every penny. The trip felt genuinely mine, not a packaged tour.

Motorbike route + video consultation

I've done Southeast Asia before but always on tourist trails. Tomer planned a two-week motorbike route through the north that had me eating breakfast with Hmong families and sleeping in villages where I was literally the first foreign face some kids had seen. The pre-trip call was incredibly helpful — he answered every question honestly, including 'this road is too hard for your skill level, here's an alternative.'

2-week cultural & food itinerary

The food guide was revelatory. We ate incredibly well every single day and never once paid tourist prices. The recommendation to hire a xe ôm driver named Thành in Hue and ask him to take us to his lunch spot — that meal is still something I think about monthly.
